A DPC (Data Processing Center) is a physical or virtual infrastructure where large volumes of data and information are stored, processed and managed. It is also known as Data Center. DPCs are essential to ensure the proper functioning of a company’s IT systems, as they house servers, databases, networks and other key components for information management.
Some key features of a DPC are:
- Data storage: DPCs house servers and mass storage devices that allow information to be stored in a secure and accessible manner.
- Data processing: In addition to storage, DPCs process data through servers running business-critical applications such as ERP, CRM systems and databases.
- Security: The DPCs are designed with advanced security measures, both physical (access control, video surveillance, fire protection) and logical (firewalls, data encryption) to prevent unauthorized access and protect information.
- Redundancy: Data centers usually have backup and redundancy systems to ensure continuity of service in case of failures, such as uninterruptible power or duplicate servers.
DPCs can be managed internally by a company or hosted in the cloud through providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
